My guess is that the very angry girl was accused of farting by one of the boys who actually farted about 20 seconds before the picture was taken. Most of the class has calmed down, but obviously those two boys still think its hilarious (as they should), and the two girls trying to suppress their laughter can't stop themselves because the continuous laughter of the boys combined with being next to Irritable Isabelle is making them laugh. Great picture though.

As a Granada High School graduate, I appreciate the information about camp Amache. I didn't know the camp was "named after the Cheyenne Indian wife of John Prowers." I learned there was a Disney artist named Chris Ishii who lived at the camp. He drew a cartoon called "Lil' Neebo". One cartoon shows "Lil' Neebo" reading a Granada Pioneers paper. I would sure like to get a copy of some of those.
Thanks for the info.

JohnMD – I’m glad you stumbled on my blog! Thanks for letting me know that you remember the dredge as a kid. I can only imagine that you must have thought that it was it was a hugely impressive thing to see.

Hi Greg,
I stumbled upon your blog while doing research on that little cemetery overlooking Brownlee Reservoir. We visited that cemetery today - my uncle lives down the river a little ways - and I'm having a heckuva time finding any information! Do you remember where you found the picture? I loved your entire post, very informative!
Have a great week,
Ronni

I must admit that I'm upset whenever a landing in MT comes up since it is the most OS. However, of all states to be oversubscribed, MT certainly has a lot of cool features to offer...rather than a state that is filled with abandoned cole mines.

BORUP, a city in section 16 in Winchester Township, was named in honor of Charles William Wulff Borup, who was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, December 20, 1806, and died in St. Paul, July 6, 1859. He came to the United States in 1828 and to St. Paul in 1848, where in 1854 he established the banking house of Borup and Oakes, the first in Minnesota. His sons, Gustav J. and Theodore Borup, were also prominent businessmen in St. Paul. The city was first settled two miles south of the present location, in section 28, with a Great Northern Railway station and grain warehouse; it was moved in 1892 to its present site, platted in 1899, and incorporated as a village February 15, 1951; the post office was established in 1906.
